Sacred Heart kicks off for 2nd year the Bridges of Peace Drive

March 18, 2010, South Amboy, NJ - Sacred Heart School kicks off for the 2nd year in a row the Bridges of Peace - Help a Child through a Soldier Drive to benefit the children of Iraq. Items will be sent to Sgt. Robert Bruce's unit in Iraq building Bridges of Peace between the soldiers and children of Iraq.
Sgt. Bruce is a Bridges of Peace Board of Director who served in Iraq in the civil affairs unit returning in 2008 and currently works as a Sayreville Police Detective.
In order to raise money to help cover shipping costs, the school has announced a no uniform day fundraiser! Those who donate to the cause are allowed to go to school without their uniform for the day!

Our vision: To promote an understated way of being. To conform to love not a volatile compromise. We wish to propagate the idea to put love at the forefront of every issue. When a person is confronted with hard times and abuse, one must learn to connect to the love within to change the state of things. Peace can be achieved only when we as human beings understand that all the world's inhabitants have a special and unique place in the scheme of life.

We wish to spread this knowledge that life is so important. All of our family is important. Every color, sex and ethnicity is to be honored for we are one family together experiencing Life. Violence is not the answer to end conflict. Whether it be in the home or abroad in war. We wish to teach and foster this idea to everyone we can. We hope to bring about a change in the hearts of many who claim to seek a just solution with the use of force as a solution. Life is dear and without Love, it is meaningless.

Through our event, 'Bridges of Peace Jam', our goal is to reach the souls of people through music. We feel the �Power Of Music� is so great that it can move people to new ways of thinking. The artists are the ones to reach them and open their hearts; we are just the ones to put them all together for a unified purpose of love, peace and kind works of charity. A collection drive will take place at the event to help children whose lives have been adversely affected by war and poverty.

Pete Seeger and Ray Korona wrote "Toys for Peace" for our organization Bridges of Peace and sang it for us here at the Water Festival in NYC. After I had said that we started the project in Sayreville and then opened it up nationwide with a drive just being completed in Texas and that we are just mothers trying to make a difference. He smiled and told us that he thinks women are the ones who are gonna change this world because they are more compassionate...

Listen/About "Toys for Peace"

Toy Drive in Alice, Texas (Sonny's Senior Project)

Alice, Texas--Our son, Sonny Perez, has pledged to dedicate his senior year to researching the benefits of Play Therapy for children of war, and to collecting and donating toys in honor of Cpl. Orlando Benavides, a class of 2004 graduate of Freer High School, who is currently ending his 2nd tour in Iraq at Camp Freedom, Iraq. This is his Senior Project for graduation as a Distinguished Graduate.

A toy drive has been scheduled for April 4 in Freer (Muy Grande Store) and on April 11 in Alice (Wal-Mart). All toys and items collected will be shipped to Iraq in Orlando's name for BridgePeace.org

Thanks to the generous support of Jon Bon Jovi, Matt Bongiovi and the fan club, the drive was a huge success.

JON BON JOVI to Support Bridges of Peace

Jon Bon Jovi will be performing at an upcoming special Concert on 2/23/09 for his BackstageJBJ fanclub members and will be sponsoring a Bridges of Peace "Help a Child through a Soldier" drive at their event.

Bridges of Peace, founders of the "Help a Child Through a Soldier" Drive Project are a local organization collecting items to support our troops and the children of Iraq building Bridges of Peace between them.
