Bridges of Peace, in an effort to build a bridge between the U.S. soldiers in Iraq and the children of Iraq, collected toys to be distributed by the soldiers to the children.

**GET THE CHILDREN IN YOUR COMMUNITY INVOLVED**

If you would like to run a Children's Needs Drive within your community and support this campaign, please click Here for details on how to run this project.

We feel that it would not only give the children a chance to clean out there closets but it would also give them a chance to make a difference in another child?s life half way around the world. It will also raise the spirits of the U.S. soldiers and our hope is to enhance the relationship between the U.S. soldiers and the Iraqi people.

"We are all children of God, both our soldiers and the Iraqi people. Please support our effort to help build Bridges of Peace in our world." - Diane Eleftheriades, President/Founder

Thank you for your help in our effort to build bridges of peace around the world.

******** UPDATE FROM MAJ Stephen Stewart IN IRAQ - 11/07/04 *********
Good afternoon Ms. French,

I work with COL Wernicki at the Iraqi Assistance Center, as the HA (humanitarian assistance) Coordinator. I would be happy to assist in the distribution of toys from the children of Sayreville. By all means send some to Afghanistan, and I'll work with those that are sent to me here in Baghdad. As with other projects, I'll request that digital photos are taken at the time of distribution, which I'll email back to you.

MAJ Stephen Stewart

*** UPDATE FROM Diane Eleftheriades, President and MAJ Stephen Stewart IN IRAQ - 12/12/04 ***

A Total of 55 boxes have been shipped to Iraq containing over 3300 stuffed toys. Thank you to the Sayreville schools for making this a huge success. We have divided them up between several military locations. Below is my note to MAJ Stewart in Iraq informing him of the coming shipment.

Hello MAJ Stewart,
I wanted to let you know that 25 boxes of stuffed toys have been shipped to your location on Thursday, Dec. 9th. I really hope the children enjoy the toys and the soldiers enjoy giving them out. May you all be filled with Love by the gift of giving and put a smile on a poor child's face. May your hearts be warm as you spread the spirit of Love to the children of the world. We care for you all deeply and pray for peace and for your safe return. Our children here have been very touched by this project as they handpicked toys to give to you for the children. We are glad for all the support from you, our soldiers and our community. We hope everything goes well and it builds a bridge of Peace. Please send us photos if you can so we can post them on our website.

We have some more boxes that we will get out as soon as possible. If other communities take on this project, we hope to send you even more. :)

May God Bless you and keep you safe. Know that our hearts are with you during this Holy season.
Much Love and Peace,
Diane Eleftheriades

Reply from MAJ Stewart....

Good morning Diane,

I will request photos- which will be forwarded to you. My reward will be seeing smiles on the children's faces, when the toys are given to them. Thank you for your support!

Hello Diane,
Yes, I've been receiving your boxes "by the truck-load", and the children love them. Sorry I've not been in touch until now, it's been really busy here with the elections coming up. Thanks for your support; I'll send you photos.

My motto is: "I make the children smile, for they're the future of Iraq" (couldn't do it without your help, though). By the way, I'm the "army guy" in the pics.

Yes, please send me the articles. I know where Sayreville is, as I live across the river, in Yonkers, and work at the Bronx Supreme Court. Most of the boxes arrived before Christmas, but I wasn't able to distribute all of the stuffed animals before Santa visited Baghdad (yes, I did see Santa, and he speaks Arabic). We aim to please!
